Hani Hagras

Hani Hagrass is Chief Science Officer and Global Head of AI at SBS, with over 25 years of expertise in Artificial Intelligence spanning academia, research, entrepreneurship, and industrial leadership. He has published more than 500 scientific papers and holds over 11 industrial patents. His work has earned major international recognition, including the 2026 IEEE CIS Pioneer Award for his contributions to Explainable and Generative AI.
In 2012, he co-founded Logical Glue, the world’s first Explainable AI platform, which was later acquired by the global banking technology provider Temenos in 2019. He subsequently led the AI Business Unit and acted Chief Science Officer in Temenos before bringing his expertise to SBS.
Hani plays a key role in advancing ethical, responsible, and transparent AI in banking and financial services. His work in Explainable AI (XAI), Generative AI and Agentic AI helps financial institutions gain substantial ROI, build trust, gain AI Sovereignty, meet regulatory requirements, and deliver fairer, more transparent outcomes.
