Transactis is a joint venture between Société Générale and La Banque Postale, founded in 2008 to operate as a shared payment processing hub for French banks. The company processes 10 billion transactions a year on behalf of large and small banks and financial institutions, ranging from Société Générale to Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. Transactis is the largest payment processor in France and serves as shared infrastructure across its bank clients’ payment operations.
Transactis is the largest payment processor in France, formed as a joint venture between Société Générale and La Banque Postale. Working with SBS since the company’s founding in 2008, Transactis turned to SBS to build its Instant Payment service ahead of the EU’s Instant Payments Regulation. Since launching in December 2018, the service has grown to handle an estimated 35% of Instant Payments in France, processing more than 1.4 million transactions a day for clients including Société Générale, La Banque Postale, Boursobank and other financial institutions.

They chose SBS
As the largest payment processor in France, Transactis needed to add Instant Payments to its shared infrastructure well before the technology became mandatory across the EU. SBS had handled Transactis’ software solutions since the company’s establishment in 2008, giving the two partners a track record of navigating the complexity of its multibank model. The project, which started in 2017, delivered two modules: Instant Payment Engine, configured alongside Transactis’ existing banking payment software, and Instant Payment Clearing Exchange, which manages exchanges between a bank’s IT systems and Europe’s clearing systems. Transactis launched the service in December 2018 and extended it to bulk instant payments in October 2020, becoming the first processor in France to do so.
